After 40 years as an avid photographer, Suffolk-based Wayne Button turned his hobby into a full-time career and is now celebrating his first anniversary in the job he loves.
He says, "I took the leap of faith last October and haven't looked back since." Wayne developed his skills in his spare time while working in the construction industry for 36 years and now specialises in wedding photography in and around East Anglia.
"In October 2021, at the age of 55, while scraping ice off of a digger, I decided that enough was enough and it was time to turn my passion into a career," he recalls.
To learn as much as possible, he started shadowing his long-term friend and wedding photographer Chris Smith shooting ceremonies and weddings part-time at weekends. "During that time I had been displaying my work in magazines and competitions but always believed it would simply continue as a hobby," he explains. When he finally decided to take the plunge he was able to put his personal laid-back approach to good use creating a rapport with his clients. "A more informal kind of style helps people to relax and feel more in the moment," he explains. "Even after all these years, I'm still developing my photography and pushing the boundaries and I welcome couples who have their own interesting ideas, as it gives me the opportunity to really let my creativity run wild."
