June/July 2024

As someone who has only worn make-up once for my own wedding a few years ago, my knowledge is definitely lacking, and, much to my friends’ amusement, I can’t tell you the difference between highlighter, foundation and concealer! Luckily, our region is full of some wonderful beauty experts who know all the tips and tricks to ensure you look your best on your big day.

If you’re a bit clueless, like me, don’t panic. When looking for a make-up artist, make sure you read their reviews and that you like the look of their work. Most importantly, be honest with them. Whether you wear full glam on a regular basis, only add a touch of foundation, or have no clue where to start, they are there to help you. A good supplier will reassure you and give suggestions to help you look and feel like the best version of yourself.

I highly recommend having a trial before the wedding. Your trial will give you time to talk to your make-up artist, test out looks and ensure you’re happy with the final result.

To help give you some ideas, we’ve rounded up fashion and beauty experts in the area and asked for their tips and trend predictions to ensure you look amazing.

Happy planning!

Copdock Hall

Copdock Hall is an exclusive-use wedding venue with a Grade II Elizabethan barn and on-site luxury guest accommodation in a vineyard setting. Set in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, it has been recognised as one of the top barn wedding venues in the county. The award-winning vineyard stretches across the valley below Copdock Hall’s wedding barn and offers special opportunities for photos. Guests are free to explore the vineyard throughout the day and the venue can serve its award-winning sparkling rosé for the ultimate locally sourced grape-to-glass experience.

The Elizabethan barn is the heart of the wedding venue and is the hub where guests mingle and celebrate under the vaulted cathedral-like oak beams. Glass doors flood the interior with light and underfloor heating ensures your guests will be comfortable year-round. The barn opens onto the lawn with views across the award-winning vineyard, with a secluded courtyard offering an additional entertainment space where guests can enjoy the bar, evening food and relaxed seating areas. Weddings of all sizes work well in such a flexible space, with clever partitioning and furniture creating entertainment areas for smaller weddings. For larger weddings, the barn seats 180 guests or can accommodate up to 350 for an evening reception.

The garden pergola and hidden vineyard are perfect for elegant outdoor weddings, and the courtyard and open-fronted barn offer additional entertainment space in any weather.

Church of England weddings can be held in the parish church of St Peter’s, which stands proudly above Copdock Hall’s vineyard and can be accessed directly from the carpark and gardens. The team will show you around the church and introduce you to the vicar if you’re considering a church wedding.

The Farmhouse offers luxury accommodation for up to 17 people in eight en suite rooms, divided into two sections with separate entrances and stairs to give complete flexibility. The kitchen is at the heart of the farmhouse and is where your closest family or friends can join you to reminisce over the day, late into the night, or over breakfast.

The Honeymoon Suite is on the ground floor with views over the gardens and its own private entrance, so you can enjoy your own space while still being close to your guests.

Becky's Cake Bakes, a talented cake maker based in Soham, Cambridgeshire, is offering our readers two special discounts.

The owner, Becky Coverdale, offers a bespoke service and works closely with her clients to create their dream wedding cake. She tells us: "I handmake all of the flowers that I use in my designs out of wafer paper, which makes them very lightweight, realistic and a beautiful keepsake from your wedding day. I also love to make bride-and-groom cake toppers. I use photos of the couple and details of what they will be wearing on the day to create the topper. If the couple chooses, I can also include bridesmaids, pageboys, or pets. Toppers make a lovely keepsake from your special day that you can keep for many years to come."
